June 2012 - Congratulation to Deputy Jason Phillips and his wife Julie for completing the the Run With The Law 5k run for Special Olympics. The event, which is organized by Detective Carla Cross of the Radford Police Department raised over $1,700 for the Special Olympics program. |

December 2011 - Sheriff Armentrout and his staff joined law enforcement officers from throughout the New River Valley for the first annual Shop With A Cop program. Walmart donated gift cards so that under privileged children from throughout the area could enjoy a special Christmas with some fantastic gifts. The officers and deputies escorted the kids on a shopping trip and then returned to the New River Valley Fraternal Order of Police lodge to enjoy snacks and meet Santa Claus. |

May 2011 - Sheriff Armentrout and his staff host a group of Radford High School students on Student Government Day. The Radford Sheriff's Office is one of the many city agencies that participate in this wonderful educational experience. |

April 2011 - Sheriff Armentrout commended the staff for their dedication to duty and willingness to assist the Radford Police Department during Quadfest weekend. The deputies worked Friday and Saturday nights to provide the booking services for arrestees. This was another example of great teamwork! |

June 2010 - Sheriff Armentrout commended the staff for their performance during annual firearms re-qualification. He was very proud of the scores, particularly the shotgun scores since everyone scored 100%. Of course the most memorable part of the training day was the Taser certification course. Although it was not mandatory to personally experience the effects of the Taser, most experts agree that it serves a useful purpose for a variety of reasons. The sheriff was proud that the entire staff was dedicated enough to subject themselves to such an extreme level of discomfort to maximize the benefits of the training course. Another "Job Well Done"! |

April 2010 - Radford Police Chief Don Goodman commended the staff of the Radford Sheriff's Office for their assistance during Quadfest. During the Quadfest weekend, 132 people were incarcerated and the Sheriff's Officer staff booked all of the violators. Sheriff Armentrout passed along Chief Goodman's comments and added his personal appreciation for a "Job Well Done"! |

May 2009 - Sheriff Armentrout congratulates Deputy Dwayne Owens for graduating from the general instructor certification course. Deputy Owens also graduated from the D.A.R.E. instructor certification course. He instructs the D.A.R.E. course to sixth graders at Belle Heth Elementary School. |
