Project Lifesaver

Situated in the heart of Virginia’s New River Valley, in the Blue Ridge Mountain foothills, the City of Radford offers an attractive lifestyle for its residents. Nestled in a large bend in the New River, Radford covers approximately 9.5 square miles and is a diverse city full of commercial and recreational opportunity. Home to Radford University and two of Virginia’s former Governors, Radford was recently ranked in the top ten emerging metropolitan areas in the U.S.

Radford’s school system K-12 consistently ranks among the best in the state in both academics and athletics. The city has an extensive telecommunications infrastructure with all City, University and schools linked by a fiber network. With low student to teacher ratios and 60% of its teachers with graduate level degrees, Radford’s education system is second to none.

Bordering the City for 8.5 miles the New River not only provides the city with a variety of recreational opportunities, but also with an unlimited supply of water for residential and industrial uses. Radford owns and operates its own water and electric utilities.

With recreation being very important to the citizens, the City maintains and operates a 100 acre park and recreational area along its 8 miles of riverfront. Radford is also home to 29,000 linear feet (5.5 mi) of new biking, walking and hiking trails.

Nestled on a couple hundred beautifully manicured acres within the City and with student enrollment over 9,000, Radford University continues to be one of the top public universities in the south according to U.S. News & World Report.
